Scotland to Newcastle Ferry

The Farne Islands are not far off the Northumberland coast. Famed for providing sanctuary to St Cuthbert in the 7th century, Inner Farne is now renowned as a summer haven for nesting sea birds and looked after by the National Trust. Farne Island Lighthouse was originally built in 1673 to guide ships through this hazardous archipelago of islands. On such a calm day it is hard to imagine the need for a lighthouse!
